SHOWING AT PIEROGI IN OCTOBER
Passacaglia
On my first visit to Magnolia Editions in Oakland CA, I saw a large etching that had just been pulled. I said, "what is THIS?"
Don Farnsworth explained that after 20 years of cutting on their plastic table top, it was time to replace the large sheet of plastic.Someone had the wonderful idea of inking the large piece of scarred plastic and running it through the etching press. They ran off quite a number of these with the idea that several artists could make a unique variation on the table top theme.
I exclaimed that I had to be a part of the project. Don looked rather surprised, because we had just met and he was not familiar with my work.
I cranked up my lap top and showed him my work. He then rolled up the etching and handed it to me.
It took me around two months to draw white dots in every 'cell' created by the cut marks.
The result is "Passacaglia."
